I love the new site plans and so do some of my clients!
There are a few areas that could be improved though.
1 After scanning some very large properties, where the entire site is not included in the plan, it would be nice to have some sort of indicator that the property continues past the drawn plan. It is not always practical to draw, or impossible to scan, forested areas or very large fields, etc. in this case the site plan make the property looks smaller than it is. I would like something to show that this is just a partial site plan and the property continues out “this way”
2 Water. Lakefront properties are perfect for a site plan. It would be good to see water instead of just a dock extending into nothing
3 Consistent processing time. The one I submitted last night is done this morning , however I have been waiting a week for one added to an existing iGuide. I never know if it will come back the next day or 3 days. This makes it hard to sell to clients that want everything NOW. I am sure this will improve with time.
This is a fantastic add-on and it will make me lots of $$$
Hi Joe, thanks for the feedback - it’s always appreciated!
Our practice is to include the full property, including very large ones! The reason it may have been cut off is that we may not have had clear indicators of property boundaries in our aerial data or visual references. For most properties, this isn’t an issue as there are typically well-defined, but submit an update/error request if you encounter this, and we’d be happy to review!
As for capture guidance on larger properties, we don’t expect you to scan at regular intervals or scan at all at certain parts of the property. In these cases, we leverage more aerial data to complete the site plan, and as properties get larger, the details in the site plan are naturally less granular (think forest over specific tree placement, small gardens not included, etc.). For most Site Plans, I recommend providing scans around buildings, then placing scans at locations you want viewers to explore in the 3D virtual tour. That should be enough for us to draft.
Water. This is something we are exploring! Similar to the above, we wouldn’t be expecting you to capture over the water, but if there are docks, it would be great to get a scan there!
Processing time. We are committed to delivering all site plans within the 24-hour SLA (same as an iGUIDE), but more complex or larger properties can take more time. As with our iGUIDEs we always try to exceed expectations and we will continue to work on getting them out the door as quickly as possible!
Thanks for sharing this—really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. Glad to hear you and your clients are liking the new site plans overall.
A few thoughts on your points:
Totally agree on the need for some kind of “property continues” indicator. We run into the same issue with larger or partially scanned properties, and it can definitely give the wrong impression. Even a simple directional cue or boundary fade would go a long way in clarifying that the plan is only showing a portion of the land.
The water point is spot on. Lakefront and waterfront properties feel a bit incomplete right now when the water isn’t represented. Having a visual treatment for water (even a basic one) would make those plans much more intuitive and appealing.
Processing time consistency has been a bit unpredictable on our end too. Quick turnarounds are great when they happen, but the variability makes it tough to set expectations with clients—especially when timelines matter. Hopefully this gets more standardized as things scale.
Overall, really promising direction—just a few refinements like these would make a big difference in day-to-day use.
