What camera are you using? I have several IMS-5’s, Planix Pros and 1 R1… I haven’t really had any alignment issues with the Pro and R1… had to manually algin the ims-5 scans… Never had any issues with windows or mirrors however. I wouldn’t say its the key at all… the real key to preventing misalignments is more scan points, especially making sure you’re capturing line of sight.
I would offer that marking/masking isn’t a think in iGUIDES ecosystem because there’s no dollhouse. Marking/Masking is for the sole benefit of having a clean dollhouse in Matterport’s ecosystem.
The iGUIDE system doesn’t have the same limitations of Windows/Mirrors like the MP system does. It’s more of a matter of getting familiar with the camera and HOW to scan rather than worrying about “reflective surfaces”.
Making sure the camera is level, oriented correctly, and you have a direct line-of-sight to the next & previous scan will go a LONG way. After a few scans you’ll get more of a feel for it and the alignments happen automatically.
Not sure what your scanning process is but after scanning over 1800 properties Ive never really had any issues. Sometimes bathrooms with a ton of mirrors causes some alignment issues. I would recommend just post processing your projects on the computer, as i find aligning scans on the app or web app time consuming and more interrupting the scan process than it needs to me.
