Insurance for operators (Ontario, Canada)

Do they specifically cover iGuide shoots? From what several insurance brokers have told me, most O&E policies will not cover the nature of iGuide shoots.

Yeah they have always covered it for me

Thanks for getting back to me! I appreciate it. I suppose you are correct, having the right insurance is important.

Good to know. I’ll have a look at their policies.

I haven’t joined PPOC, but have gone to many of their events over the years.

I too am having issues with the insurance. My husband owns a Home Inspection Company so we are trying to get coverage for the iguide through his E&O. The insurance company wanted a certificate of course completion for the iguide to take to the underwriters which doesn’t exist. So will see how that goes.

If you’re an operator in Ontario, Canada, especially in industries like restaurants, construction, or any business that involves direct interactions with clients or the public, having the right insurance is crucial. In Ontario, operators typically need to protect their businesses against risks such as accidents, property damage, liability claims, and even business interruptions.

For restaurant operators in Ontario, one of the most important types of coverage is restaurant insurance Canada, which is tailored to meet the unique needs of foodservice businesses. This type of insurance typically includes:

  1. General Liability Insurance – To protect against claims from customers or employees who may be injured on your premises.
  2. Property Insurance – This covers your building, kitchen equipment, and inventory against damage or theft.
  3. Business Interruption Insurance – If your restaurant needs to close due to a covered event (like fire or natural disaster), this helps cover lost revenue and operational costs during the downtime.
  4. Workers’ Compensation – Required by law in Ontario for employers to cover workplace injuries to staff.
  5. Liquor Liability – If you serve alcohol, this coverage protects you against claims related to intoxicated customers.

Make sure to work with an experienced insurance broker who understands the restaurant industry and can guide you through finding the best restaurant insurance Canada plan that fits your specific needs. They can also help you assess any other specific coverage requirements based on your location and the nature of your operations.

By ensuring your business is properly insured, you protect not only your property but also your employees and customers, giving you peace of mind to focus on growing your restaurant or business.
