Cad turnaround

Hi everyone I’m fairly new to iGUIDE and wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced this.

So far, on three different projects, I’ve been waiting more than a week for my CAD files, even though the stated turnaround time is usually around 2 business days.

I understand that delays can happen, but what’s been difficult for me is that I haven’t been able to get a clear answer on when the files will actually be ready. For my clients and workflow, that’s a pretty basic and important expectation.

I’m trying to decide whether this is just bad luck on my end, or if this is something others have experienced as well. At this point, I may need to reconsider how I continue using iGUIDE if CAD turnaround times are this unpredictable.

Would appreciate hearing your experience and any advice.

Thanks!

AutoCAD has turnaround has gone downhill… I run a high amount of those, my recent one is only 18,000 sqft and it’s been over 10 days…

I just called iGUIDE because it’s been now 3 calendar weeks since I submitted an 8000 sq ft 3D CAD package. I had one last year that took over a month (was maybe 12k sq ft). Getting out of hand.

avrumi77, same experience here. iGUIDE markets this as days not weeks, so it’s frustrating when it doesn’t hold up. Hope this gets sorted out.

This is a very fine line. Until recently the DWG files were coming back very quickly. However, they had a lot of mistakes. A few operators picked up on this first, spread the word, the rest of us reacted, and we all demanded the errors be fixed. Planitar looked at the situation and assigned more staff to figure out what was going on. There’s no question. This will slow down the production of DWG‘s until they get to the point that they want to be, indeed where we want them to be.
In the meantime, do you want everything done quickly or accurately?

Ron! Fair point. I want accurate. This is a 7,000 sq ft commercial job I did yesterday. I got it back in less than 24hrs. I don’t need it that fast. I need accurate. I thought to myself……this is waaaay to fast. It WILL have mistakes.
Sure enough, a chalkboard that somehow became a window. On an internal wall! My fear is, if this is the foundation for the DWG that comes later. If this is the quality of the foundation, then we never had accuracy to start.

This has drastically impacted my CAD business. I have had to source another way to get my CAD’s. I can not possibly not be able to tell a new client “I am not sure when your CAD’s will be ready”. Even worse, order an RCP from iGUIDE, get it back without a ceiling height, and then have iGUIDE tell me they do not provide that information. I had to ask why I was taking vertical scans then. I did not get a response, but did get a corrected RCP. It is a shame to see this keep happening, as well as the impact on my business model.

This thread is extremely concerning. I have a pilot with a multi-billion dollar company and I am submitting the first project today. If this goes sideways and takes too long or is not accurate, I potentially lose what could amount to a high 6 figure account.

To answer the question above, “Do you want everything done quickly or accurately?” - I want both. And we should be able to have both.

@bruckm Are you taking the DXF file from iGuide and pushing it to another drafter, or are you using an alternative scanner as well?

bldevore I do not want to discuss this on iGuide forum. You can email me if you want to discuss offline (mbruck@sightplan3D.com)

I chatted with both CS and the support team. They both assured that the delays were temporary and they are back to normal timelines on .DWG files. That was good to hear.

I have been waiting 3 weeks for my CAD files—RVT, DWG Floor plan with RCP and elevations on a 4600sf residential property.

When I first inquired about my files after (5) days, I was told (9) days from date of submission was standard for the files I submitted. Ok, got it, not problem. Now my files are a week past that date.

Has anyone inquired about or received a discount from iGUIDE for files that are overlay late? That is my next approach. It’s the least I can do, to pass on a discount for late files to my client.
