CAD drawings for a scan Done before drywall

I have a builder customer that wants scans performed before the drywall goes up, and would like the CAD files from said scan. Will the CAD drawing include the mechanicals noted in the scans? Does anyone have a sample of a similar CAD file they could share as an example?

Hello Chris,
What city and state would this be taking place?

Indianapolis, Indiana

A couple of things worth knowing from someone who learned this the hard way.

The 2D Lidar Point Cloud Data (DXF) that comes with Radix is not a CAD drawing. It’s raw point cloud data. An architect could use it as a reference layer but it is not a finished floor plan.

For actual CAD files usable in AutoCAD, you need Premium as your base and add the CAD Files option to get the DWG floor plan. If they want dimensioned plotted drawings, that requires the Advanced Drawing Package.

On mechanicals: what’s visible in the panoramas gets captured in the walkthrough. It won’t automatically show up as labeled elements in the CAD drawing. Tags are how you document specific mechanical items and that output lives separately from the CAD files.

Jenny hit it right on!

To clarify, besides the visuals in the 3D virtual tour that Jenny highlighted, the mechanics are not drafted in any deliverable we have.

It sounds like you should provide either a Standard or Premium iGUIDE with the CAD Floor Plan (DWG) Add-on. Samples of each deliverable can be found on our website HERE

I’ve done this on my own home renovation. Already we were able to locate a loose wire that the drywallers should have left out for the hot water tank, a plumbing valve that was covered-up and a junction-box that was pushed-out of the way by the drywallers - causing a disconnect in the neutral wire to our furnace. The pre-drywall iGUIDE has been a massive money-saver!!!

Vertigo,
Sorry for the slow response. My builders use this as an upsell item. Their clients seem to really appreciate them.
