I have charged the batteries twice, and after a few minutes, it shows a solid red indicator, which I believe means that I have to throw it away. This happens with both my batteries.
Any ideas?

I have the same issue. Brand new R1. Batteries charged one time and now shows red light every time now. Although I have another M12 charger for the tools and it charges the batteries without issue. I think my issue is the Planitar charger. Opened a ticket.
One of my 2 batteries goes to red immediately. The other, so far, works fine.
I thought I had the same issue. I found that the batteries were not sitting properly and completely in the charger, and just needed to be reseated a couple of times. I find the batteries are a very snug fit in the charger and need to be in “just so”.
I just tested this, but I have a good fit; it blinks green twice and then goes to solid red.
Please open a support ticket to further look into this. There may be an issue with charger contacts shape in some chargers. In the meantime, you can try pulling the battery out of the charger by 1-2mm instead of seating it all the way in. If that helps, a temporary workaround can be placing a 1-2mm thick plastic or rubber pad at the bottom of the charger well.
Your suggestion did not work. I even removed the battery cover in case it interfered with the charger. Ahmad has already opened a ticket for me, 63468.
Thanks Alex!
